What you can do
- Chat with the agent in threads: mention the app in a channel. Once the agent owns a thread, plain replies in that thread continue the same conversation without another mention.
- Direct messages: message the app directly from its Messages tab.
- Draft from a thread: ask the agent to turn a discussion or announcement into a post. Drafts are saved to your Notra content library and the agent confirms with “Saved as a draft”.
- Save references: ask the agent to remember something for brand context. It confirms with “Saved as a reference”.
- Approve with buttons: actions that need a human decision, including posting to X, show confirmation buttons in the thread.
- Mirrored history: public-channel threads with the agent appear as read-only sessions under Chat in the dashboard.
- Notifications: pick a channel where the agent posts activity updates, such as new drafts and completed work.
Install
1
Open the Slack card
In the dashboard sidebar, open Integrations and click Connect on the Slack card, or open the Slack page and click Add to Slack.
2
Approve the installation
The Add Slack Integration dialog explains what happens next. Click Add to Slack. Slack shows the permissions listed below; approve them for the workspace you want to connect. The link is valid for 10 minutes.
3
Choose where the agent responds
Back in Notra, the Slack page shows the connected workspace with two settings cards, Channel access and Notifications channel. See below.
4
Mention the app
In Slack, mention the app in an allowed channel or open a DM with it. If the agent is not enabled in a channel it replies: “The Notra agent is not enabled in this channel. An admin can enable it from the Slack integration settings in the Notra dashboard.”
Settings
Channel access
Everyone in your workspace can use the agent. People outside your workspace, including Slack Connect guests, cannot. By default the agent responds anywhere it is mentioned. Turn on Limit to specific channels and select channels to restrict it; use Refresh channels from Slack if a new channel is missing from the list. Click Save changes to apply.Notifications channel
Choose a channel where the agent posts activity updates. Set it to none to turn notifications off.Enable, disable, delete
From the workspace card menu you can disable the integration (the agent stops responding), re-enable it, or delete it. Deleting removes the stored bot token from Notra; also remove the app from Slack to revoke access there.Permissions
The Slack app requests these bot scopes:
The agent only reads a thread once it is mentioned or messaged in it. It does not scan channels for keywords or emoji reactions, and it does not read other threads. Private-channel and DM conversations are not mirrored into the dashboard.
Limits
- One connection per Slack workspace, and a workspace can belong to only one Notra organization. Connecting it again shows “This Slack workspace is already connected”.
- Slack conversations count against your organization’s agent usage like dashboard chat does.
- Slack is a chat channel for the agent, not a data source for schedules. Use GitHub, Linear, or Granola for that.
